Body odor and intestinal issues...

I was recently dx with H pylori.  Along with the H pylori I have this weird body odor which smells slightly of ammonia and somewhat meaty?  I have this weird taste in my mouth as well.  I was taking a prevpac for 14 days and I thought that would take care of the weird body odor as well as kill off the pylori bugs.  My stomach feels better but I still smell weird?  I also have bright red blood in my stool with each stool.  At this point I have no idea what's going on.  My pancrease, liver, spleen, and kidneys are normal.  I had elevated amlyse levels but no symptomatic pancrease issues.  Any idea what's going on with my insides?

I know it's now 3 yrs later, but I am suffering with this as well. For 2 years I complained about gastro issues and then the past 3 months just started getting that weird disgusting sweat odor. I know exactly what you are talking about. I was just YESTERDAY diagnosed with H pylori after two previous tests came back negative (one from a January biopsy and the other stool and blood test before that).

There are so many false negatives with this... as I learned. It took me 15 Doctors and over $5,000 in medical tests before they said I had H pylori. The smell is the bacterial infection oozing out of your pores. That simple. Your body is trying to get rid of it... and with digestive issues, this is rampant.

I just started taking the Prevpac, and to the earlier commenter - it is a combination of 3 drugs. Biaxin, Amoxicillin and an acid reducer. I hope it helps me. I am scheduled for a BREATH TEST which is the MOST ACCURATE way of seeing whether the H Pylori has been eradicated.

For those of you out there suffering ... never give up... You know your own body and if a Dr is not listening, go somewhere else. I was told it was stress and to go on Zoloft by 5 Drs.... I finally did,. and it didn;t help at all. I was told I had Irritable Bowel... which is not a diagnosis... just an umbrella for those conditions which DUMB Dr.s can't seem to figure out.

Good Luck!

I recommend this:

1. DROP raw fruits and vegetables totaly for a while. They contain a lot of fibers, and when intestinal bacteria break them down, they produce a lot of gas.
2. Do another breath test to see, if your H.pylori was treated successfully.
3. Have a FOBT (fecal occult blood test) which will probably show the blood in your stool
4. Then you should speak with the doctor, how to find a source of bleeding. There is colonoscopy and upper endoscopy available for this. You HAVE to solve this.

The taste in my mouth smells like the odor that's emanating from my body.  It's not regular B.O.  I personally believe it's coming from my digestive tract.  Almost like a low ammonia garbage like odor.  Very hard to describe.  I haven't been told that I smell but it's obvious from the looks and sniffs I get.  This isn't something that I can wash off my skin.  It's not on my skin.  It's coming from within.  I can't wash my insides.  I eat healthy.  Fruits and vegetables.  Raw vegetables like brocolli, cauliflower, carrots and tomatoes.  Lot's of water.  It's depressing because I can't get rid of this odor and my digestive system sucks.  No matter what I eat I automatically become gaseous.  I'm beginning to think I may have aquired TMAU?  I dunno.  I have no idea which way to go on this.  Colonoscopy?  CAT scan?  Flexsigmoidoscopy?  Endoscopy?  Totally confused and frustrated!

Hey! :)

H pylori is treated with a combination of two antibiotics, beside Prevpac, this is usually metronidazole or clarithromycin. After the treatment, another breath test is recommended to see, if infection is cured.

Bright red blood in the stool is urgent situation. Do you think it may be from hemorrhoids? Red blood is definitively from the part of the gut under the stomach - from small or large intestine. You should visit a doctor.

Strange taste may be from drugs, you've taken. But if this was before you started with drugs, it may be that your sense of taste and smell have changed. It happens during some diseases...Someone other mentioned this odor to you?

Raised amylase may be from pancreatic disease, it may take quite some time, before symptoms appear. Tests of pancreatic function would be needed.

I strongly recommend you to solve this bleeding issue asap. Maybe a colonoscopy will be needed.
