Burning in stomach, indigestion--ON Nexium for 3 yrs

I have been on Nexium for 3 yrs and take daily.
3 days ago, I started having dull burning in stomach. I can live with the pain but it is there.
In the am, for 1st few hrs, I have bad indigestion ( like when I was pregnant BUT no way I am now)
The burning comes and goes.
I have no fever but feel clammy and sweaty at times.

My mom had H Pylori few yrs ago--she said if it was that, the burning would stay and get worse.

I am 35

Side note-- I ate spare ribs the day before-- every time I think about ribs I want to puke. Not sure if related

Ideas

Nexium just controls acid; it does not eliminate it.  Yes, eating something that doesn't agree with you can goof up your digestion for days.  Glad you feel better.

I am 80% better today. Would BBQ ribs eaten on a Tues nite make me sick with burning stomach W, Thurs, F and Sat?

Like I stated, I am on Nexium, so wouldnt that control the acid if it was from food??

I started drinking milk and watching what I eat. I also had no coffee today.

I actually feel good (except for caffeine w/d headache!)

Sorry no one has replied to you yet.  This is a public forum without doctors.  First of all, you are not going to die.  Most likely, your tummy is quite upset from the rib dinner you ate.  The burning is acid.  While the meds you take is supposed to help control acid, it does not stop it altogether.  Now, as for all the more serious things your burning sensation could be, could be you have an ulcer, could be H. pylori, could be a side effect from the meds, could be a bone is stuck in there.  All these possibilities can be eliminated by a visit to your family doctor.  In the meantime, if you had an ulcer, it would be very painful.  As for your mom having H. pylori, this is a very common bacteria, found by a simple blood test, and it can be treated.  As for side effect from meds, if you've taken Nexium without side effects so far, good chance it's not that.  If you had a bone stuck in there, you would be in the hospital because you would have collapsed by now.  Assuming it's from what you ate, I would suspect if you take an alka seltzer or other antacid followed by a glass of water, it will ease your discomfort.  Might take a few times.  You can also eat probiotic yogurt from the grocery store for a few days, to get your digestion back on track.  If the burning continues for more than a week, see your family doctor.  I hope this eases your mind, and let us know if an antacid helped you.
