Burning throat

Can acid reflux cause a burning in the back of your throat? I have a burning in the back of my throat, pain in the upper mid section at the sternum, my tongue gets a white coating on it. I went to my md and he put me on Prilosec and Zantac. I have had an ultrasound of my gallbladder and a HIDA scan both normal.

Yes, burning in your throat and sternum area is part of acid reflux.  If the medication isn't helping let your doctor know this!  Stomach acid backs up in your throat causing the burning.  You need to address the white coating, with your doctor.  Make sure you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth.  Take care.
