If your colon had a perforation, you'd have symptoms that you could not live with. Sepsis is the result of a perforated colon which allows fecal matter out into your body and blood stream which goes to your organs and poisons them. The end result is death and it does not take that long to happen. It's how my mother died. So, if you fear a perforation in your colon, you'd have significant symptoms. Generally though, doctors are looking at specific things. A proctologist is doing a test and likely not looking for issues such as that with your colon and a gloved hand could probably not feel a slight perforation. But again, you'd be doubled up in the fetal position in pain if you had a perforation as it leads to sepsis. good luck
