Chest pain and left arm tingling/numbness

My 25 year old son went to emerge for crushing chest pain and a tingly, numb left arm.  They did bloodwork and heart monitoring and said it was not a heart attack.  He was able to go home.  My question is if any digestive problems could cause these symptoms?  He has had painful stomach problems off and on that radiate to his back.
