Chronic Gastritis...haunts me

Hi I'm a 32 year old male and I've had chronic gastritis for about a year now diagnosed by an EGD back in April 2014. My Dr took biopsies for H Pylori and Celiacs; both came back negative. My biopsies were 'normal.' My blood tests were normal as well. My Dr said it's basically a sensation, which doesn't make sense if they found chronic gastritis. The only trigger I can think of is about 6 months before my gastritis I was taking a lot of Advil for a shoulder injury and was very very stressed out at the same time. My gastritis all of sudden came to me one day with burning in the stomach in Jan 14. Of course having chronic gastritis itself creates more stress.."Will I get stomach cancer?"

It has gotten better but very slowly. It almost seems like it has to haunt me with weekly flare-ups. I've tried every supplement that I can think of: Pepzin GI, DGL Licorice, L Glutamine, Gelatin, Vitamin D3, Probiotics, Pepto Bismol and Slippery elm. They seem to aid but not fully heal. Is this normal with chronic gastritis?

How long is this suppose to last? Is chronic gastritis life-long? Is one year not long when considering chronic gastritis? Should I get an EGD done somewhere else?

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for your response. I hope you've gotten over the gastritis. I'm not sure if mine will ever go away at this point.

After reading about your issues with gastritis I can sympathise.  Your case is not unusual in that I suffered a similar thing with gastritis for many months and had many tests like yours and was found to be normal, which was not the case.  I was training quite a bit in the gym and thought it might be due to overtraining as I developed an inflamed left shoulder.  I went to my gp and he recommended a CT scan.  Being a medical secretary myself, I opted for an MRI which showed a torn biceps tendon.  In hindsight it was the inflammation from this injury which had caused a lot of tension in my body and had caused the gastritis.  After having rotator cuff surgery to repair the tendon I then set about healing using natural therapies such as acupuncture, naturopathic cleansing herbs, dietary changes and remedial massage therapy.  I did my own shoulder rehab (I am a qualified PT), with band therapy as soon as my pain was manageable.  I healed in 3 months where usually it takes 5 months.  My surgeon was intrigued and asked me to fill in some information with regard to what I had done so he could use it in his lectures.    I am presently back training, but this time I use different training methods such as interval training which involves a lot more cardio and also swimming.  I suggest you try to wean yourself of any drugs and use natural therapy and if you trust your body, you will heal.  I wish you good health in the future.
