Chronic Pancreatitis why is there no cure or relief

Chronic Pancreatitis:  Why is there no cure, or just as important, no relief?
My Wife was hit with sudden acute Pancreatitis, back in September 2013, and has yet to get past it.
Her Doctor told her, since it has been an "issue" for more than 6 months, it has moved from Acute to Chronic
Pancreatitis.  And as such, there is no cure, and no pain relief that they can give her for her extreme abdominal pain.
Which helps to loose weight, because she can't eat or drink, due to the nausea and pain.  I can tell U, if the Doctor(s) had the exrtreme abdominal pain and nausea, they would find answers, yester.

I have been dealing with something that feels like a gallbladder attack for 6 months and have no gallbladder...I thought FOR SURE at the hospital they were going to tell me my pancreas was shot b/c the pain has stayed now on both the right and left upper quad...terrible.  Anyway they keep telling me my pancreas is fine but according to my bowels...well, it does not appear to be working NOR feels like it is working properly.  Ongoing undiagnosis....I read you comment about how if the doc had the pain he/she would come up with a solution...and I say "AMEN" to that.  I just got done saying that to the nurse on the phone.  I hope the best for your wife and that you guys might find a compassionate doc that can genuinely help.

Make sure she's evaluated for autoimmune pancreatitis.

Well, they told her, the gallbladder looks fine, no duct blockage, but no, they have not suggested digestive enzymes replacement, as of yet.

Socrates, was there any tie-in between her pancreatitis and any issues with her gallbladder? Is she on digestive enzymes specific to pancreatic issues?
