Colitis / Prostatitis

1.5 years ago I was "diagnosed" with abacterial prostatitis. I started taking some natural remedies and did a candida cleanse and it eventually went away after 4 months. I attributed it to stress and moved on.

Now, 7 weeks ago, I started getting abdominal cramps and diarrhea 1-3 times a day in the morning. I saw blood after about 3 weeks and went to the doctor. I had a colonoscopy last week and pictures showed some ulcers in my sigmoid colon and some inflammation in my upper left and traverse parts of the colon. I have rarely had problems after noon and on weekends it is much better than weekdays.

My question is...can the prostatitis diagnosis and colitis/ulcers be connected in any way, or is this just a weird coincidence? My GI took several biopsies and I will find out more this week.

side note: I got very sick a month or so before the prostatitis started last year with a gastrointestinal virus/infection that was worse than I ever had in the past. So the time line was...

Virus/food poisoning - 1 month later prostatitis symptoms - 4 months later symptoms are mostly gone - 1 year later diarrhea and abdominal pain starts - 7 weeks later colonoscopy shows some ulcers and inflammation

This is very confusing, so I would appreciate a thorough answer...thanks.

to me a biopsy seems very dangerous, I've never had it done but heard about it and the tought of knowing that all kinds of needles will first have to penetrate through the colon to get to the prostate already calls for an infection, and much worst if it is determined that there are no signs of prostate cancer now you are at a risk of developing some sort of new disease simply for going through that process, to me this way of determining prostate cancer is too risky, it's obsolete and the method of detecting prostate cancer should be modernized to a more safe way of finding out, sorry but I just wouldn't do it or will do it otherwise
