Colonoscopy/ Edoscopy post sym\ptoms

I had a first colonoscopy and a routine endoscopy last week where they removed 2 small polyps from my colon. For 4 days after I had unbelievable pains like labor and could not expell gas. I went to the doctor who did the proceedure the 5th day . He felt my stomach and said I probably had an infection! He prescribed 2 antibiotics. Cipro and Flaygl. I had Cipro before so ok but after reading the potental side effects of the other I decided not to take it. I called the office and asked to be prescribed something else. They said since I am allergic to penicillin that flaygl was the only other antibiotic they could prescribe. I said I did not want to take it. The nurse said ok I will let him know that! This Dr. was referred by my obgyn. Personally I think the center takes on too many people in one day. About 20 proceedures a day according to the nurse. I did not feel any personalization and felt rushed. I am feeling much better except on my left side  there is an aching soreness on my left side below my rib cage when I breathe in. I have 3 days left of the Cipro. Is it safe to say that  It is sore because of the polyp removal and that it will subside eventually? Or could there be something really wrong/

Thank you for replying. I am better but I still feel a slight twinge when I breathe in deep. Today is my last day of Cipro. I did not take the Flaygl. I have to go back to this doctor on friday for a follow up and he is going to get a piece of my mind. I just pray he did not cause any perminate damage. Thanks again.

You should never have any discomfort from the removal of polyps.  I wouldn't want a doctor to use the word "probably"!  The only thing that can go wrong during  a coloscopy is perforation of the colon, and it doesn't sound like that's what you have.  It's good that you are feeling better, but I think I would find a new GI doc for any follow-up and future scopes.  I can't imagine how you would have gotten an infection form the scopes or removal of polyps...very odd.  Doctors refer you to their buddies this doesn't mean they're referring you to a good doctor.  I hope this is the end of this for you and take care.
