Diverticulitis Help!!

On Nov 21, 2009 I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis and drs. gave me antibiotics, I took all of those faithfully.  Then I asked my doctor if I could try another doses of antibiotics well he gave me Cipro & Flagyl.  I finished the second dose of antibiotics on Dec 24 and still continued to have severe pain in my lower left stomach.  On Dec 29 I was in so much pain that I went back to the hospital and they took a contrast cat scan.  I get the results back and they said that there is no sign of diverticulitis only small cysts on my ovaries..  Now I'm really confused.  I know I have diverticulitis cause I have all the symptoms of it.  I have about 2-4 BM a day and my lower left stomach is killing me!!  Could a colonoscopy determine diverticulitis even though the cat scan can't see it?  Please someone help..
Sincerely, Erika

Hello, Please be careful!  I was diagnosed with diverticulosis April of 2016. No problems except occasional constipation. Then June of 2017, I had become constipated and I went to my Family Doctor and she stated my diverticulosis was acting up, so she gave me prescriptions of, Cipro and Flagyl. I took them for 4 days and my bowels seemed fine..but a few days later..I developed severe vomiting and diarrhea with cold sweats..it lasted 3 hours.I felt a little better next day, but queasy.. Two days later, I was vomiting..could not hold anything down. My daughter took me to ER. I was severely dehydrated and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.  I had developed C-Diff in the hospital and was slowly developing Sepsis. I was sent to emergency surgery..My Colon had died due to misinformation of doctor .. Colon was removed..had Ileostomy. I now wear a colostomy bag..but I am alive..

Hi I have no experience or knowledge and have come on her for some advice myself but I asked my doctor today about diverticulitis as I have had similar symptoms for months and she told me the only sure way of diagnosing this is with  a colonoscopy. Hope this helps and good luck.
