Diverticulitis or intestinal bug?

I'm a 49 year old female.  Im in excellent health, I exercise 5 days a week with weights and step aerobics and have my whole life.  I eat a very healthy organic diet, and tons of fiber.  Last night I got home from work I was soo tired, and my whole abdomen is tender but with quite a bit of pain in the lower left quadrant.  I started getting chills and realized that I was running a fever of about 100.9.  I had some chicken broth for dinner with some noodles in it to try and give my tummy a break.  Today the fever seems to have come down to about 100. but I still have the mild pain in my tummy.  It almost feels like gas pain, but its not, and the pain on the left hurts if I try and go to the bathroom and bare down at all.  I have a family history of diverticulitis...my mom, dad, brother, and aunt have all had it.  I have been doing everything possible to avoid it like I said, healthy, and good diet.  What should I do?  Pain is not unbearable just annoying, but unpleasant, and I'm fatigued.  I also have to kindof sit down gingerly as it hurts then too.  Does this sound like diverticulitis or some kind of stomach flu?  Should I go to see a doctor?  I don't want to go to the emergency room its too expensive, would probably just go to a minor emergency clinic.  Let me know if I need to follow u and have this checked out.  Thanks.

With the symptoms you've described, it actually does sound like diverticulitis rather than an intestinal bug. You may want to see a doctor for this, as they can give you a proper diagnosis.
