Eosinophilic Esophagitis?

Backstory: Recently, I had an endoscopy because I’ve been dealing with chronic nausea. Two samples were taken and biopsied which showed a varying number of eosinophils. One had 5 eos/hpf and the other 10 eos/hpf.

In addition to the nausea, I’ve been having difficulty swallowing, so I’m getting an esophagram next week. Anyway, my GI has prescribed me omeprazole in the meantime, but it’s not helpful.

I was wondering: has anyone been diagnosed with EoE despite having <15 eos/hpf? I don’t see how this can’t be EoE.

(Next week, I’m meeting with my GI to discuss diagnoses. I’m hoping if it’s definitely EoE that I can try a different PPI and maybe a corticosteroid.)
