Esophageal peristalsis

Is there any treatment for esophageal peristalsis.  I also have difficulty swallowing pills and capsules and sometimes find it painful.  This manifested itself shortly after thyroid surgery.

No - I never heard of an esophageal manometry.  The diagnosis of slow peristalsis was made after an endoscopy was done.  Carafate was prescribed.  No further tests were recommended.

Have you had esophageal manometry done to try to decide whether there is a problem with either the muscles or the nerves within the esophagus? Any other testing done?
