Flutter in middle of chest

I have been diagnosed with IBS, and recently I've noticed a flutter in the upper center of my chest, right where the top of my collar bone dips slightly in, maybe 3 inches below my adam's apple. No chest pain, and I don't feel a weird heartbeat. It used to happen frequently then stopped now it's happening again. I don't know what it is, any ideas? I have an appointment coming up with my doctor but I just don't want to wait too long if it is serious, Like I said it has happened then stopped, then happened again today, it comes and goes throughout the day, now tomorrow when I wake up it will most likely be gone, I notice it happens more then I drink alot more water than usual or eat chinese food more than usual.

I also have a hiatal hernia, maybe thats the cause? I overeat and then it pushes up causing a flutter, I'm not sure I'll be checking with my doctor about this soon anyway.

Have you felt your pulse during these times. I have a "flutter" in my chest and throat and I notice it more after I drink water or eat more than I should too. I have a hiatal hernia and when it pushes up through the diaphragm, it causes these feelings. Also, sometimes gas can cause the unpleasant feelings as well. You could also be allergic to MSG, so much Chinese food has that in it and in lots of folks it causes reactions.
