Gallbladder

My HIDA scan results show that my gallbladder is functioning at 9%.  Along with all my other problems I have back and shoulder pain and pain (gallbladder attacks) after I eat fatty foods.  Or just eat the wrong thing.  My doctor said we don't have to take the gallbladder out right now.  Just avoid those foods.  Huh?  Me and my husband are quite confused?  Any responses as to why you would leave a faulty gallbladder that is causing pain in you?

Thanks for the help.  I went to my GP today for fever/sore throat and we discussed the gallbladder situation.  He said it does need to come out now and does not understand why the GI doesn't have a sense of urgency.

Thanks for your info.  I have heard different stories about felling better and worse after the removal.  I also have a slow digesting stomach and a lazy colon so basically i feel bad all of the time.  Hopefully this will at least get rid of the back/shoulder pain and the side pain.  Did you have laproscopic surgery?  How long was your recovery time?  How long was the procedure?  We are actually hoping since I have chronic constipation that my bowels will begin to move better.  Some people say that they have loose stool after eating certain things.  Have you had this or are you staying away from rich foods too?

I had a HIDA scan ejection fraction of 0% and my doctor said there was no recovery from a non-functioning gb.  I had my gb removed three weeks ago.  I am one of the 20% who can eat no fat after this surgery or I experience symptoms that mimic a heart attack.  My doctor says it should go away about a month after the operation.  When I don't eat any fat, I do have to say that I feel better since the operation.

Get a second opinion.  It needs to come out.
