Gastroenteritis in the air?

Hello everyone,

I have always had the fear to vomit, which mainly implies fear to contract norovirus or rotavirus. I had gastroenteritis once during my childhood; since then, I didn't have it; at least, I didn't throw up.

But the fear is always present, especially today, because I walked near a vomit pool on the floor of a public place. It was not very close to me; I was certainly at three to five meters from it.

Is it possible that I catch the virus?

And more generally, is it possible go get gastroenteritis through air or saliva? There are indeed many conflicting sources about that.

Thank you.
