Gerd and Liver

Hi,

I have a question but first let me give a bit of background information. I'm a fifty one year old white male and I've diagnosed with GERD in 2001. At the time, I had suddently become unable to take NSAID and Aspirin (which I used to take daily before that). I was told it was because of GERD. The symptoms were intense burning right under the rib cage and just a bit off center to the right. I tried antiacids, proton pump hinibitors but nothing worked. Only stopping the NSAIDs altogether would bring relief. I had alergy tests done and they all came back negative. In 2003, I had my gallblader removed but that too did not help. Sometimes, I would discover a new trigger for my symptoms. For instance, I noticed that peptobismol instead of helping had become a trigger! So to this day, I only take NSAID occasionally and never for many days in row. Same with Pepto. I never use that anymore.  By doing this, I've been free of symptoms since 2003. As long as I stay away from these substances, I'm good. However, this summer, alcohol sudently became a trigger! Almost from one day to the next! Now, just one beer or one glass of wine brings the pain/burning back. I had Saké the other day: same thing. Again, antiacides etc. don't help. Now, someone suggested that my problems could be related to a sluggish liver. Is this possible? Can a sluggish liver cause hyperacidity and intolerance to certain substances? Has anybody ever experienced something like this? Someone even told me that it was lack of stomach acidity that was the problem. Not an excess of it. That person told me to start taking Apple Cider Vinager. Which I haven't done yet. Anyway, to my chagrin, I've added alcohol to my list of forbidden stuff for now. So that's basically it. Can anyone provide some suggestion, insight, tips or anything else that could make sense of this?

Thank you in advance!

Aspirin, apple cider vinegar and alcohol are irritants, so be very careful with them. I'm willing to bet anything that it was your daily intake of aspirin that caused all your problems in the first place. Don't take any medication unless you really really need it.

Isn't it weird though, all of sudden starting last june, I cannot have a glass of wine anymore. Before that I never had any problems. It has happened from one day to next just like with the NSAIDs in 2001. I don't get that.

Ok this will be my second time attempting to post my issues.  I will start by saying iam experiencing bad breath, body odor and not being able to smell something until I get closer to it. I have tried appointments with the dentist, had a colonoscopy also visit with my primary doctor. Everything has checked out A okay but I do know that I give out this foul odor. My friends and colleagues display a frown on their face because of my body odor or it could be my breath. When I share this information to the doctors they look at me like iam crazy because they don't smell it. I do know one thing iam stressed, embarrassed and my social life is non existing.  So please if anyone can help please do.
