Getting off Nexium

I have recently stopped taking Nexium after @ 8 or 9 years. When I turned 40 my health went down the pooper and I've had numerous health issues making me re-evaluate what I'm putting into my body. So,long story short, with the help of my primary doc that I've seen for 20 years and my naturopathic doc,I've stopped taking the Nexium about 10 days ago.Even tho I gradually went off of it,I'm having one HECK of a time with what I think is rebound or withdrawl symptoms.I've had so much nausea, bloating, gas, burping continuously, sometimes constipation, sometimes frequent bathroom trips. The worst part is that I can eat a small meal and 4 hours later it feels like the food is just sitting right at the back of my throat.I do have a hietal hernia and acid reflux.So...I have been using organic apple cider vinegar and taking acidophilous pills daily.I went and got some ginger chews from the health food store for the nausea and that seems to be helping.I guess my question is how long will I be dealing with all this discomfort?I tried to quit the Nexium before but always gave up but I will not go back to it.I recently read about a procedure that can be done as inpatient and basically a doc goes in and ties a knot in the esophagus or something like that to help with the reflux.I have to say I haven't had any reflux since stopping the Rx.The apple cider seems to really help with that.I've read about DGL and bitters and and enzymes but am not sure what to try without wasting money.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your time.

I've been taking Nexium for so long due to having a hietal hernia and severe acid reflux.I wanted to get off of it for a couple of reasons and one was cost and another was I wanted to try some naturopathic methods.Well, today was the last straw physically for me.I have felt like I've had the stomach flu since I stopped taking the Nexium. It took me about 2 days to start feeling the symptoms and when I've tried stopping the Nexium  before I'd just give up right away and start taking it again. Well I can't hack it anymore.I've missed 2 days of work and have barely been able to eat.And no,I don't actually have the flu.I've been in touch with my docs and they say it's called "rebounding".I went and talked to my pharmacist who knows my health history very well and she told me she's been on either Nexium or Prilosec for 17 years.Cost wise I've learned that natural products are just as or more expensive.I've really tried for several days to eat different and use some natural "cures".But its the nausea and stomach pain that is doing me in.I went to my chiropractor yesterday and told him how I felt the meal I had eaten hours earlier still felt like it was sitting in my throat. He massaged my "cardiac sphincter" which is the top of my stomach. He said he could tell it was spasming. After about 15 minutes that fullness I had been feeling  was totally gone so I called him and asked if that was what was supposed to happen and he said yes.It was great! I've been seeing him for other reasons but wow,I had no idea that he could help with that.I showed my husband where to massage and he can do it for me now. Also my pharmacist has the same insurance as my husband and the Prilosec OTC is only $5 a month so I called my primary doc and he called in the Rx for me.At first I felt like a "failure" not being able to get through this but I have to be realistic.I'm bringing in no money when I miss work and I cannot live like this. One reason I wanted off the Nexium was because it depletes the calcium in your body and B12 also.Well, since I also had thyroid cancer in 2005,I get alot of testing done and my doc keeps track of my calcium and all those kinds of things.I'm sorry if I'm rambling but as I said earlier today has been tough and I've cried ALOT.  And no,I don't have IBS.The symptoms I'm having now is due to not being on meds but I took my first Prilosec OTC about 2 hours ago.I'm hoping to see some improvement by tomorrow. As for frequent urination,I've ALWAYS had that.I do drink ALOT of water tho.I hope this answered your questions. My email address is barista_machine***@**** if you want to talk more.Since I do have health issues I'm working on I try to answer any emails I get but sometimes it might take a few days.I will get back to you though.
