Green Stool

I've had green stools twice this week. Stools are solid - not loose and I've had not change in diet or medications. In fact I'm not on any medications.  I feel fine.  I had a colon resection a few years ago due to a cancerous polyp so naturally I'm 'freaking out' about this.  The only thing I can think of is I did eat birthday cake at a party last weekend (nearly a week ago) and it had a lot of blue frosting on it.  Would that still be in my system?

Should I be worried.

I'm frantic. I would appreciate any help.

green stool is usually an indication of an infection somewhere. Your body is trying to fight it off. Depending on which infection, you may feel fine, but you should be checked as it could be something underlying that should be addressed.

Thx for the response. I called today. They said since I haven't eaten anything different it's bile and to give it over the weekend and if not corrected to call back.  Now I'm researching and wondering about the too much bile issue. . .

ooooo......blue icing will do it. a week ago? i don't know....but it sure will turn it green. have you gone very much since then? if not, then i'm sure it's making its way out now.

i wouldn't freak too much. sometimes certain salads or green, leafy stuff will do that too. just give your doc a call and ask tomorrow if you're concerned. no big deal to ask.
