H. Pylori?

I have been getting bad heartburn for nearly 10 years. I was told it was due to general bad diet/exercise/etc, but after sorting a lot of that out it has only got worse. Recently I developed terrible nausea most of the time. Also, I have found myself getting a lot of persistent minor infections, mainly in my gums. Also, acne has started to appear on my face and shoulders. This is not due to a hygeine issue.

My doctor told me he thinks I may have H. Pylori and scheduled me for a blood work and kidney and liver function test. This exam was on a busy day and so was less than 5 minutes long.

The blood work came back 'satisfactory', and the kidney/liver function test came back with a very high bilirubin count. I am finding it very difficult to work at the moment, and have been told that it could take a couple of weeks before I can get a second bilirubin count. Swine flu has recently hit this area pretty hard, so all the doctors are pretty swamped, so I can understand this. However, I am very much in the dark.

My question is mainly, do these test results support the H. Pylori diagnosis? If not, is there anything obvious which would? Also, are there any over the counter anti nausea drugs that work well? I have been taking motilium, which has the active ingredient domperidone maleate, but this is very expensive and works sporadically at best. I have also been taking the ppi lansoprazole for the heartburn.

Thank you for replying. The heartburn isnt a big problem at the moment. The lansoprazole is doing a pretty good job keeping it at bay. The nausea is the main problem.

Also for your heart burn try asking your doctor for prevacid and take it after every meal. It will help so you don't produce so much stomach acid there fore less heartburn.

Although they give you the test for h.pylori it actually cant rule anything out. I had one done and my bfs sister who is a doctor told me that it doesnt necessarily mean that what they are looking for isn't there.
