HELP, don't know what to do !!!

Hello, I am new to this part of the forum.  I am on MS forum, as I have MS.  I am a 52 year old female, and have been having bowel troubles of and on for years.  Last year I went to the ER 5 times with the pain and vomiting..... they did a bunch of tests, cat scans, ultrasounds and such...... found nothing wrong.  Then last April they did a cat scan at a different hopsital and found a 9 cm. growth on my right ovary, and small growths on the left.  needless to say, I was in surgery 3 days later and lost them both.

The pain did not stop then.   I just finished spending 7 days in the hospital with pain, and vomiting, and they can't figure out what is wrong.  Apparently, they gave me everything that there was to give, for 5 days, and then on the 6h day we had minimal success passing stool.

I stayed another day, and they gave me modelum (sp??) and said to take milk of magnesia, lax,a,day, and fiber like metamucil or benefibre.... so, that is what I am doing....

But,we still don't have answers,.. Apparently at the hospital they said that the GI DR> wanted to do out patient care and a colonoscopy but have not heard anything about it and when I left the hopsital they did not mention it.

I was so happy to finally leave that horrible place, that I did not really think to ask.

I have MS and was diagnosed just before my 50th birthday, is this part of the MS or what, does any of this sound familiar to anyone???

Thanks,
Candy

Hi Candy, MS can cause bowel problems, but this doesn't mean that this is what your problem is.  I would call and find out about the colonoscopy, as this would tell them a lot.  You have symptoms of a blockage but they have ruled that out, so it's as if your intestine isn't moving the food along properly. I'm sure you've been on antibiotics and it may have destroyed the good bacteria in your intestines which aids in proper digestion of food.  Start eating yogurt enriched with probiotics and make an appt. with a Gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy.  I know it's frustrating, hang in there and I hope you get some answers, and always get second opinions......it can make a big difference!
Take care.
