Infant (11mo) w/ severe abdominal pain at night

Hi - My 11 month old son has been having severe abdominal pain and gas at night. He can't tell me what's wrong, but I can tell from his writhing that's his abdominal area that's causing the pain. He screams and screams. It's only been happening for a month or two. I think it's due to dairy and 'gassy' vegetables. When he was first starting on formula (after breastfeeding) he didn't take well to regular infant formula (had bad diahrea), so we switched him to Soy per his doctors suggestion. He starting on bbay food with no trouble. Then we started (and daycare) giving him some table fodo and that's when his sleep problems and pain started. I have been trying to rid his diet of all dair and vegetables that cause excess gas. It seems like he's pretty good when he doesn't have those, but he still wakes up in some pain (not as bad though) without them. So I was wondering if any one knew of anything that could be causing this night time abdominal pain? It's so heart wrenching to see him scream and I can't do anything. I walk around with him and it helps a little but he's obviously still in some pain. He flops about, throughs himself all over. I thought from reading some things it could be GERD, but he doesn't have many of the symptoms. He has had a couple ear infections and for quite a while was very drooly and had a runny nose constantly. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I've seen his regular pediatrician and this is not something that requires an ER. I am working with her, but would like to research on my own also what could be causing this. I love our pediatrician, but I like to be informed about my kids health and leave it up to doctors alone. Thank you though.

I would take your baby to the ER when this happens again!  His actions show that he is in terrible pain and should not be having to endure this.  It has been going on for too long, and you need to get to the bottom of what this is ASAP!
