Just stopped having bowel movements on pn

One day I just stopped being able to have bowel movements own my own....it's been almost three years now and still can't go unless I eat a bunch of shredded wheat, a couple apples, or a bunch of fiber....I use enemas mainly--like 3 times a week, cause I just can't go....I told my GI dr this and he seems to think everything is really ok...I mean for real how is it ok if I can't go on my own anymore....nothing I know of  has changed in my lifestyle to make this happen.....I have the same diet, same exercise,I actually get more fiber now cause of this problem......I had a colonoscopy and it was fine...I had an endoscopy of esophagus  2 weeks ago and nothing wrong...last week I had an ultra sound on gallbladder and they checked all of my major organs and everything was fine...
....why is it all of a sudden that i'm not able to use the bathroom on my own anymore...it's like everything quit working....
      Thanx

I went through the exact same thing except NOTHING helped me.  I decided while waiting for my appointment to see my GI doctor to start eating yogurt enriched with probiotics every day, and by day 10 everything was back to normal.  I continue to eat the yogurt every day and have have no problems at all.  It's worth a try and good luck!

Are you taking any medications that slow digestion?  NSAIDs, antidepressants, and narcotics are all notorious.  Aleve is worse than Advil for me.

You could add magnesium citrate every morning and that might speed things up.  Otherwise consider Metamucil (recently shown to reduce cholesterol as well), and if that isn't enough, Miralax.
