Keep being sick

Hi,
I am a male, 30 years old and for 3.4  weeks now i have been sick in a morning clear fluids, and sometimes when i eat in a mornining, soon after it all comes back up. Sometimes i can keep food down, and sometimes i cant.
I have had blood tests and a stool test and they came back normal.
There is times i eat and keep food down no problem, and sometimes eat very little and bring it up, sometimes i eat nothing at all and still continue to bring up clear fluid (mainly in a morning.)
I am currently taking 150mg Ranitidine twice a day and Metoclopramide 10mg, 2 or 3 times a day.
I dont really know what else to do, my doctor keeps blaming my anxiety, but i have had anxiety for over 4 years and never suffered this way.
Before im sick i get a really horrible sensation through my body, once im sick this goes.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? can anybody help me please?

hello i to in the past have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. My symptom of an attack was always a feeling of being sick, no matter how sick i would feel though i would never actually be sick. In the past 9 months however the feeling of being sick has grown much worse and I now can t stop myself from being sick. I have been to see the doctor and have been given the lanzeprozale anti sickness tablets etc but nothing seams to be working. I am now waiting to to see the specialist to get the camera down the throat and the camera up my backside to see what is causing it. Everything you have described I can fully relate to. Part of me has been thinking that it is my anxiety getting completly out of control to because sometimes i feel completly fine but the second I have to go sit in a car go to the shop etc I begin to feel sick. The doctor tells me however that if it was just panic attacks i was having then i wouldn t actually be sick he says its more likley that something has been wrong with my gut for years and that was the cause of my anxiety in the first place  I ve just been given some new meds until i see the specialist I just hope they work so far I have spent all morning being sick. Please stay in touch and let me know how you are doing was nice to see im not alone and there are others going threw the same thing.

No problem wayne welcome to the club..it's all about detective work in trying to figure out your problems.  I think an endoscope would be awesome idea it would rule out a lot.  There is also a gastric emptying test or upper bowel barium xray (where they make you drink this elmers glue tasting junk) and xray it you as it goes down but I think that'll just either show a blockage or your relux problems you already know you have so it probably won't prove much but I do think a upper endoscope probably would be the best next move to rule out ulcers scarring and other things to why you're not getting food down.  If that's negative then a upper barium xray..but in the meantime waiting for all these tests i'd do a food elimination diet while waiting.

since you didn't have an issue with the meat maybe it's food allergies/food intolerance.  Like a severe allergy to...dairy? wheat? fructose? sugar? Who knows but that sounds pretty wild.  You can be allergic to anything.  Maybe a food elimination diet of rice and meats with no seasonings again for a good 2 weeks to see if you improve.  If you do you might save time and money (course you have national health care so..grr...lucky..) but might tell you answers right away.

On the endoscope If they notice bile in your stomach (not supposed to be there) that's a sign of a stomach valve malfunction and might require surgery for example or maybe the nerve (can't remember the name of that nerve...vagnus nerve I think... that senses food in your stomach is damaged)..but hopefully they'll spot something but yeah lie on your right side from now on, if you lie on your left you'll have food/acid/bile whatever sitting in your stomach going nowhere eating your stomach to pieces.  Probably stick with low acidic foods to give your stomach a break.  I've heard peppermints help calm the gut and help with nausea.

Anyway good luck.  There are drugs for that condition (reglan) but they're not safe long term to try i'd chase after a diagnosis first.

Hi,

Thank you for the responce, i have the h.pylori test done and it came back negative.

Today i had a bowl of frosties (cereal) and threw that up, then 3 hours after, i had some gammon meat and was fine.

IM going to read over your reply again and again to take in all you put and take action on it.

I have not had a endoscopy yet, but im at docs again tomorrow, so he may suggest that.

The tablets im taking im not sure if they help, but the ones that stop me been sick most of the time work well.

The strange thing is i can eat the worste of foods like kebabs and pizzas and be fine.
Then eat something simple like toast or cereal and throw up.

today i thrw up my cereal but have been fine since, no fluids today at all.

Im just a little concerned that wheh i get worried or anxious, this is causing me to throw up, but if thats the case, would i be throwing up fluids?

I will definitely try laying on my right side and not resting staright after a meal.

I will keep you updated on my progress, and i really do appreciate your time to help me.

Thanks you

Wayne

after eating..don't lie your left side..generally the stomach empties on the right so if you lie on your left and a decent full meal you'll probably feel worse..even on a empty stomach you should probably try to sleep or rest on your right..and prop the  head up to help take the nausea away.

Hey,

Well constant throwing up..mm there's a few things that come to my mind.

One is a possible ulcer near the valve of the stomach, possibly caused by h.ploryi or just a simple basic ulcer.  Ever been tested for H. ploryi?  It's a bug that causes stomach inflammation and if it's near the valve of the stomach it would cause gastric reflux like you're talking about.  Nausea..pain..insomnia..sometimes felt upper middle stomach, sometimes in the back.  I know you said blood tests came back negative, did you or have you had an endoscope?  That might be the next step.  Since you have better health care over there you might want to inquire about finding out what is actually going on in your stomach.

You can try all the tums in the world but it takes antibiotics to kill (H. plori) so maybe going to the doctor and getting checked for that if you haven't done that blood test.  You can try eating easy to digest things like apple sauce and jello and not lie down for a good 30+ min. after eating.  Maybe prilosec would help but still should be tested.  Simple breath/blood test would confirm it.  If negative you could do a short trial of tums..rolaids..pepto bismal..any acid reducer or even ask your doctor for a trial of a acid reducer like nexium for example.  The medication you're taking now could be the culprit for a ulcer and i'd think about stopping those or ask the doctor if you should.  That would make sense.

Also you mentioned anxiety, it can be caused by your gastric distress OR lots of times a food allergy/intolerance can cause a shortage of vitamins and cause anxiety issues from malabsorbtion, you having IBS issues?  Another symptom of food intolerances/allergies.  I wouldn't take a vitamin now since that might make your condition worse.  You could once you get your stomach issues under control go on a food elimination diet.  You might be celiac.. or intolerant to something simple as corn or soy and that might be also causing you to throw up and be riddled with anxiety (I have it too..)  Maybe a diet of rice/meats with no seasonings for a week or 2 and you might see improvement (then you're on to something)

Anyway my bet is a possible non-h.plori ulcer or food allergy/intolerance, hopefully it's not something chronic like gastroparesis. I'd get to a doctor and stop the medication unless you absolutely can't live without it.  Even a glass of milk of calcium should help if it's an ulcer.  If all fails I'd do that endoscope and find out why you're having such severe reflux, it's painless and they knock you out anyway so there's nothing to worry about.  Good luck!
