Liver problem?

I have pain on my right side under my rib cage.  The pain is almost at the bottom of the ribs.  The pain is there all the time plus I also get very sharp spasms that take my breath away.  Sitting makes it worse as does laying on my side, coughing, exertion etc.  Last November I had a severe pneumonia and sepsis.  The pneumonia was in the lower right lobe therefore I have assumed the pain to be scarring but when seeing a chiropractor today he thought the pain was too low down to be from my lungs and wondered if it could be from my liver. Can anytime help me with what typical symtoms are for a liver problem.  Apart from the pain I have a lack of appetite, intermittent nausea and fatigue.  Thank you

Has anyone been diagnosed with adenomas of the liver or focal nodular hyperplasia? The symptoms are similar to what is described here.

Hi, my doctor thinks the pain is most definately from the scarring on my lung.  I have been having regular blood tests since the pneumonia last year and each time they are showing improvement and my LFC and CBC tests are almost back to normal.  The pain is starting to decrease although the discomfort is still there.

hi, have you received the results of your liver tests back yet ?  I am having alot of problems with my liver right now and have had abnormal tests results with levels outside the normal limits.
I have alot of pain now, i do believe i left it too long and now i have to wait until May to see a specialist. Anything you can tell me would help
Thanks

I've been having pain so severe under my rib cage also.  I thought they were anxiety attacks.  The last attack I had to go to the ER.  I thought maybe I was having a heart attack.  I've had three kids with no pain meds during delivery and this pain is 10 times worst.  I had my gallbladder out in July 2007.  Vomitting and the pain near the right side of my ribs.  Now this pain is right under the sternum.  My GI speacialist sent me to my primary because he doesn't feel its related to the GI tract, more muscle.

I went on line and researched my symptoms.  There is a condition called SOD.  Sprichter(sp?) of Oddi.  It is located by you bile ducts.  Also I thought it could be acute pancreatitis.  I went to the dr. monday and asked to have my digest enzymes checked for the pancreas.  He looked back at the result from when I went to the ER and he said that the blood work on the liver came back abnormal.  He was surprised no one looked into that further.  He did have my lay down and take a deep breath and than pushed down under my ribs on the right side and it was very tender.  He just shook his head like he new it was gonna be.  He ordered a comprehansive blood panel.  I'm still waiting for the results.  He also mentioned having a Hida scan/ Ct scan also.

Please let me know what you find out.  Take care.

Thank you for replying.  I see my doctor again on the 29th Feb so will request one then.  I know I had abnormal liver blood tests amongst others when in hospital but that would have due to the pneumonia or sepsis, I am not sure of the status now so will request updated tests.

Have you seen a medical doctor to have them draw blood for a liver profile? Some of the symtoms you talk about may indicate liver problems, but you can't be sure unless you have blood work done.
