Abdominal pain; laxatives; few questions?

I went to my doctor today because I've been having severe abdominal pain the past few weeks, it seems pinpointed on my right side so I was terrified it's my appendix since I have a low grade fever, nauseous when I eat and drink a lot at once, my stomach is super bloated. After some poking around on my stomach, my doctor says I'm severely constipated. I got some Lax-A-Day since it's apparently the easiest on my body.

I was just a bit apprehensive though since all laxatives say that you shouldn't take them when you have abdominal pain, mild fever, bloated stomach. I have all of those symptoms but my doctor says it's just severe constipation. I'm just apprehensive that by taking a laxative it'll make it worse or something.

So I guess my question is does anyone have a solid answer to why you shouldn't take laxatives when you have abdominal pain, bloated, and feverish? And has anyone taken anything while they were experiencing the same?

So, my son had this as well.  So bad he has had to go to the ER as they too needed to rule out appendix issues.  Nope, severe constipation with his own stool clogging his intestines. He has a slow moving intestines apparently due to no real cause.  They gave him an enema in the hospital (just like you'd get at the store though called Fleet).  But what they recommended to help on a regular basis has been very effective.  First, glass of grape juice (1 cup) every single day.  We buy Welches grape juice in the individual serving bottles and he drinks one of those but you can buy the bigger bottles which is cheaper and drink a cup.  We also added a probiotic to his daily routine.  He drinks a small smoothie bought in the dairy aisle of our grocery called activa.  Tastes good and is not more than a few gulps.  It has the probiotics in it. But you can get a supplement and take a pill if you prefer or drink the juices that are probiotic juices. This has been amazingly effective and I was NOT a believer prior to the results he had.  Lastly, the intestines is like  a water slide. What do you need to get a smooth ride on a waterslide?  Water.  Hydration and lots of water is really important to the intestines emptying out properly.

Hope this helps!
