Additionally, Something weird that came up several years ago. I was donating plasma. They said I couldn't donate due to a computer error. Okay, now because of my health problems I seriously wonder if it was actually an error. They said, that the lab sent my plasma back as being unusable due to a protein deficiency. They at the time said it had to be an error because of they never see reports like that. They said I had to wait a year to be able to donate again. Do you guys think this error was a clue? Maybe I really was deficient in a important protein because I was reading an article that talked about problems that can occur when people are deficient important proteins. I have never thought twice about what they said until now after reading the article. Is this something I should mention to my doctor? I could go back now and try to donate again and see if I come up still deficient in protein.
I have actually considered the Gluten sensitivity and even a dairy allergy as well. Every time I mention this to a doctor they look at me like I'm crazy. My mother told me my brother was allergic to wheat before she passed. I have told doctors this and still no response. Everyone tells me I have the right to test I want done but every time I inquire about it the doctor shrugs it off. I'm wanting to find a new doctor that is willing to listen to me and run the blood test. Also I know for a fact that I had colitis on my images because the doctor was very clear about this. He told me to avoid Nsaids but never told me why? It was almost like since I was running out of money and insurance he didn't care anymore to help me. As far as changing my diet, I have wanted to do so but my loving husband is not so supportive over the diet change idea. He thinks the answer is more in getting me on meds and finding the right doctor. I don't know why I can't convince him diet can play a roll. I will also see if I can get my files, although I'm not sure they will give them to me since they filed several insurance forms wrong. They had to write off several bills, it was clearly their fault and they admitted to it, but I bet they give me an issue over me wanting the files. Anyways thanks for the suggestions.
Becs, that rash could suggest something other than an allergy. Have you ever been tested for gluten problems - celiac disease? Some of the symptoms you're relating - including the rash - might be attributed to a problem with an inability to process gluten which is found in wheat, rye and barley. It might be woth checking into.
In addition, you need to get the copies of the pathology report from the colonoscopy and read them. I you had/have colitis in any form that needs to be followied up on. There would be 'visual' evidence in the colonoscopy - and if someone visually saw something, there's going to be some indication in the pathology. Even if it wasn't U.C., there are other forms of colitis and one form, microscopic colitis, can be found to be 'correlated' (in some cases) with the intake of gluten and/or dairy.
Get the reports and read them. Unfortunately far too many bits of information in those reports are not relayed to patients. Never trust only verbal information - even from a doc, sorry to say - get the reports yourself and double-check them by personally reading them.
