Medication side effects

I had an endoscopy two weeks ago and the GI Dr found severe inflammation in my esophagus and stomach and short segment Barrett's. I was prescribed Pantoprazole and in the last few days I have developed bladder pain and urgency. No burning during urination. I know this is not a UTI because I've had several in my life. The only time this kind of pain has happened is when I've been on another med that had this side effect. I'm also so very tired and weak. I called the Drs office today and he said these symptoms could not be from the med. I did research possible side effects a couple of days ago and these can indeed be side effects. Now, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping he would recommend another med to try because on top of the stomach pain I'm having the bladder pain, tiredness and weakness. I guess my question is this. Has anyone had these side effects and if so did they go away?

Thank you for getting back to me. I was curious if anyone else had this possible side effect so I did some research and found several other people had it. I went off the medication and two days later the bladder pain was completely gone and has not returned. I've had this happen a couple of other times with medications, not PPI's, and once I stopped taking them the bladder pain was gone. I wonder if it's a filler or dye in the medications that bothers my bladder?

Hi, its unlikely that the bladder pain and urgency could be due to pantoprazole.  If you are prone for cystitis, this could be a recurring attack. Sometimes the urgency and pain could occur as post menopausal symptoms. You will need to consult your doctor to rule out a urinary infection. Regards.
