My father died after having laparoscopic...any idea why this would happen?

My father went in early on a Monday because he had eaten spicy food and it agrivated his gallstones. He went to a  hospital and was there for four or five days until he had the stones removed and it was successful !He had coffee he told me and they were even letting him have chicken??? I spoke to him around 1 am and he was fine. He was waiting for the removal of the gallbladder on Monday...so we were just checking in with him on Saturday. He made many calls that day...all was well.  At 11 pm they checked his blood pressure. At 1 am a new nurse on call came in to find my father unresponsive. The next day (I was there within 4 hours from across the country) we called the nurse on call and she said she had not seen anything like this happen on her watch. On the autopsy it said nothing.  Has anyone got any idea what might have happened? My father was 65. Any insight would be appreciated!

Saturday. He was fine all day.He did not die from pulmanary embolism. He had no jaundice. His heart was not being monitored by cardio machine. The cardiologist would have done so if he was concerned, correct? He was asked if he wanted pain meds and he said no. He wanted to be aware in case of a potential problem.  He was taken of IV. He was on liquids only , had ice cream, cofee, soup and peaches. Blood pressure checked at 10:09. He was fine complaining of some pain. He had been put on a new blood thinner that day for the upcoming operation on Monday. 1:45 found unresponsive. On the initial autopsy it said he had type II diabetes which he did not. GG

I am not a doctor, but, the Autopsy MUST list a cause of death on it. Did he have a heart attack? Maybe some internal bleeding from surgery? Infection? If I were you I would DEMAND to find out what happened to him. read his chart, ask his dr for an answer. You deserve to know what happened to your father.
