Pain Underneath Ribs - Not Below

For the past few days ive been having this sharp pain on the right side underneath my ribs. The pain usually occurs whenever i take a deep breath or whenever i cough. Ive taken Antiacid tablets thinkin that would help a little, and that doesnt work at all. Im just wondering if this is a serious issue and if i should be seen by a doctor

The only reason i havent gone to the hospital yet is because im still awaiting paperwork from the VA ( just recently got out of the Marine Corps. ) Is there anything i can do to help the pain before i go to the doctors? It hurts when i cough and when i take a deep breathe. Also whenever i push down on a certain spot on my ribs i can feel the pain.

sounds like gallbladder. Have you seen a doctor?  That should be your first step. Ask for an abdominal ultrasound. Good Luck.
