Pain after upper endoscopy / EGD

Hi, I just underwent an upper endoscopy and biopsy yesterday for some stomach pain I've had for several years. I haven't gotten test results back but so far have been diagnosed with chronic gastritis and reflux esophagitis. My question is about how I am feeling right now. From all I've read there should be no pain or discomfort after the procedure but I feel like someone punched me in the stomach and I'm nauseated. I wasn't having a flare-up at the time of the procedure but I'm wondering if somehow having the scope in there irriated my stomach lining. The pain isn't severe which I guess would indicate a complication like a perforation and I have no fever or anything but I can't come up with any stories from anyone about not feeling well after this procedure. I called the Dr's office and the nurse just said it was because they had to put air into my stomach for the procedure and because I didn't eat yesterday until about 1pm . I just don't know. I don't feel gassy... Anyone else have this experience?

I had both, endoscopy and colonoscopy, done at the same time in late March of 2016 and have had a persistent cough and swallowing problems with infection.  I have been treated for pneumonia twice with antibiotics and one trip the the ED.  I was given steroids and a z-pak.  I just finished the latest round of antibiotics and am still having the cough and throat problems.  I've had barium testing done and no results, yet here I am, still coughing up crud.  Now I have an appointment in late August with another specialist and more out of pocket expenses.  If I make it until this next appointment and at this point, probably another trip to the ED.

i recently had colonoscopy edonoscopy and a biopsy of my intestine to see if i am true celiac as i have been gluten free diet for 2 yrs... most of your explanation is what i have experienced and my wasit backside and stomach feel as if ive done 100 sit ups.. its just been a few days and the first day i slept felt ok and 2 nd and 3rd day went back to work on the 4th day and today is day 5 after and im just now experiencing and i feel like i might not make it to the bathroom in time as everything is going right through me still.. im wondering if this will eventually go away.. food has been cramping me like back when i was a kid as well and i had terrible pain and about doubled up in the store yesterday... do you have any insight as to why this is bothering me 5 days later??

Although I don't remember much of after the procedure, I remember feeling the tube during my colonoscopy for a brief period of time, and watching the procedure going on on the screen. I do not remember much other than that. I was two days ago and I also experience discomfort in my stomach, as I was punched and a pinch on a side + sore intestine. Slept a lot. Chest tight and difficult to get a deep breath at times. No sore throat from my endoscopy but tight esophagus. Might nausea at times and dizziness. Diarrhea with mucus and blood the night after the procedure. Can’t eat without stomach pain after. Felt heart beat in my stomach when lying down.

This is the reason why I Googled after procedure pains because it was my first procedure and didn't know what to expect afterward. Doctor only gave me instructions for eventual pain or complication around the area where the IV was placed, but nothing to soothe stomach pain. I find great information here and I will try some things that worked for other people. Thank you. I hope you all recover quickly after the procedure and I hope I will too.

Two days ago upper endoscopy.   Today nauseous diarrhea and extreme cramps.   Feels like stomach flu.   Feel like I could throw up but haven't.   Is it the flu or a complication?  I have no idea.  Cane on really fast.    I really do not want to go to the emergency room.

I had underwent an upper endoscopy for constant upper right pain in my stomach yesterday. At first I took medication for gallbladder and after a while I was feeling better, but the pain came back more serious and also with stomach burns. I went to several doctors and they all prescribed different medication for gallbladder, IBS and gastritis but none of the tests I took seem to indicate any problems. In the end I asked for an endoscopy to know for sure if the pain was related to the stomach or to other issues.

I also had an colonoscopy 5 years ago with mild sedation and it was pretty painful during, but after the gas elimination which was painful also, the next day I was feeling fine. By comparison the endoscopy is much much easier and in my case it lasted only a few minutes, but is not as easy as I expected. I only had mouth spray for the neck and I felt pain only when the tube entered the neck, but afterwards it was ok. The important thing is to relax and breath, I didn't manage to relax in the first minutes and I was gagging a lot, but after I relaxed and concentrated on the breathing it was much better but a few tears were shed and I was already regretting my decision.

The results were fine and the stomach was only mildly irritated and I need to take for 3 weeks Nolpaza.

I was not expected to feel so bloated afterwards and I was glad glad yesterday I worked from home after the endoscopy. Today was better, but still bloated and with mild pain which I suspect is from the gases.

If you need to have and endoscopy I recommend you do, but in my case I feel now that I could've try to take the medication for a longer period of time.
