HI! I can't believe I found this site! I am a 53 yr. old female that has been experiencing these same symptoms since I was 13! Some of the diagnoses I have received over the yrs. have been really interesting... Possibiy from my menstrual cycle dripping blood and causing cramping (not cramping--dr. didn't listen) in between cycles; gall bladder, liver, pancreas, ducts for the organs, celiac (I have been tested 2x--once at birth and once in college---had it supposedly as baby, but not as a college student(?)), tested as infant for cystic fibrosis, (So I must ave had similar type of symptoms as an infant), and IBS...now, possibly it may be habba syndrome...which if your antispasmodic meds don't work, it probably isn't IBS, and may be Habba Syndrome (discovered by a dr. in NJ w/in the past 5 years)...many doctors do not know about it....it has to do with the digestive "juices" from the gallbladder not "working' correctly....the make-up of those juices aren't chemically correct in your system. The medicine I'm on is Welchol has been helping....it is a cholesterol medicine that helps digestion.
My pain has been as follows: The day before I have the attack, I have a ton of energy; the next day I have a terrible pain/ache in my urq that I feel I can just scoop out, if I could open myself up. If I eat, it gets worse. If I don't, it seems to get better.....If I sleep on my left side it clears ups faster, and you can actually hear the gurgling start up! It occurs when I am not sleeping well or I am stressed. No antispasm or pain medicine works. The pain is there for at least a full day, and the next day, I am totally wasted/exhausted and I feel like it is a residual effect.
I guess it's not going to kill me, because I have had it for 40 years.....I hope any one of you that has it, finds out what is wrong.... Please check into Habba Syndrome....I had all of the tests you guys have had... some, multiple times... Usually the IBS diagnosis is given because of process of elimination....It has been discovered that a large % of people diagnoses with IBS really have Habba Syndrome!
Just an avenue of thought...from someone who has been there and done that for way too many yrs!
Good luck!
