Post Colectomy Swelling Resection

I had a colon resection 5 days ago.  I am feeling extremely well except for a distended belly.  My surgery was laproscopic.  How long should I expect this bloated feeling.    When I look down at myself, I loook like a 4 month pregnant lady.  How long should this swelling continue before concern?

Also if anyone is anticipating this surgery soon, I would be happy to share my experiences.

Thanks for your comments.  I think that it was due to gas from the surgery in addition to some gas of my own.  I am now 8 days after surgery and the swelling has gone down about 70%.

I developed an itchy burning rash on my back that I concluded was due to ibuprofen but I'm not sure.  I think I have that under control now.

Just including info for others who may have the same problems.  Thanks again.

I'm not sure you should have that much swelling after 5 days or so.

I agree with 'mammo' that you need to consult with your surgeon for a follow up to be sure.

I would contact your doctor about your stomach, just to be on the safe side.
