Post gallbladder surgery

I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. I am still unable to eat much at a time and am still having right lower quadrant abdominal pain and nausea. I decided to try to eat a little more than usual yesterday and ended up vomiting. I have also had a great deal of diarrhea since I was discharged.  Is this a normal part of recovery?

I had 3 gallstones.  1 was over 1 cm in size and the other 2 were very small.  Since they were mobile they posed a threat to my bile ducts, pancreas, etc.  It had to be removed to prevent further damage.  I have been to a holistic MD and have been on all kinds of herbs, etc.  This operation was very necessary.

the reason they took your gall bladder out was because it was full?  means your liver is over burdoned?  not sure why docs do this, it's easy to empty your gall but if liver is totally tox'd and overburdoned you have to clean it; herbals, whatever.  we all have this because of our chemically imbalanced diets.  you can still eat the same but give your liver a break.

He advised me to continue eating lightly and be sure to push fluids.  He is more concerned about me drinking than eating at this point. I am to keep him posted as to how I progress.

Thanks for the advice.  I can't eat dairy at all I am lactose intolerant.  I can only tolerate soup and 1/2 bagel or 1/2 a sandwich.  I can't eat anything else.  I did eat a Lean Cuisine dinner last night and the pain in my lower right side kept me up half of the night.  I also am running a low grade fever.  I see my surgeon today and see what he thinks.

I had really bad lower right pain as well after mine to the point I thought i was having an appendix attack... you still have to eat healthy and avoid fatty food and greasy foods for a little while, slowly reintrouduce things as your body is adjusting..also for dairy eat non fat and skim milk.  I find if im hvaing a larger meal i take a digestive enzyme which helps alot.

For the diarrhea my surgeon suggested Metemucil, I take 2 tablets every morning, and i am solid and regular... hope this helps.

Hey I had my gallbladder removed last year and I was sore for about 4 weeks.  I just had to take it easy for awhile to give my insides time to heal.  I also suffered horribly with diarrhea for about a year after, and eventually was put on Welchol to help.  It also helped me to reduce the fried and fatty foods from my system.
