Pulse left side of belly button

Is it normal to be able to feel heart beat just to the left of the belly button?  Can feel mine easily (though I never noticed it before).

I've been having tummy pain, nausea for about 2 weeks now.  I've been scaring myself by looking up things on internet and seems to be something that would be seen with aortic aneurism.

Please tell me this is normal and I'm just imagining things.  I don't have time to go see Dr. just now.  I saw a dr. yesterdya and she told me gall stones without even examining or touching me.

I have the same weird sense on the left side of my belly button butt kinda lower like above my hip bone.. i get it alot.. sometimes more than others but have felt it for years since I lost my daughter 2 years ago in 2008 (she was a still born). Dr's told me it was phantom movement but I can't see it still happening 2 years later. The dr sent me to have a pelvic exam where they use a probe to look at insides by putting it inside.. i haven't gone yet because im scared that they may tell me that ill never get pregnant or that something is seriously wrong which will prevent me from having babies. but ya the pain NEVER hurts, its an odd ticking.. maybe sometimes ill hear it 3x's in a row and some days just one flicker or ticking or something. I have a new doctor im going to see in a couple days who will hoepfully take more care in me as being there patient to find out what my real problem is. when i do find out i will share my knowledge for all other confuzed and somewhat concerned individuals :)

Good story :) .
Amebiasis is usually in the left colon, as I know, so this was really far from typical. Good doctors there, smart approach with laparoscopy.

Hi,

I posted way back in early May with tummy pain.

Well that pain continued for the next 3 months, and I also got pregnant.  Am now 13 weeks.

Finally after seeing about 4 gastro doctors all of whom said the pain was too non-specific and I shouldn't worry about it - although 1 told me it was gall stones and I should have my gall bladder removed, the pain got much worse.  I went to the ER last 15th July.  They spent 2 days arguing was it or wasn't it surgical and finally my obstetrician insisted they go in for exploratory laparotomy. So they reluctantly did.

Turns out I had appendicitis.  Two days following the surgery I also came down with amoebiasis (they reckon I'd had it subacute all along), which was even worse than the appendicitis.  So they reckon the amoebiasis caused the appendicitis.

They had such a hard time diagnosing me because my pain was not specific, I did not have elevated wbc (except for slightly elevated neutrophils), and only low grade fever. They couldn't find my appendix on the ultrasound.  CT scan not possible because of the pregnancy.

Anyway 2 weeks post op and the original pain is completely gone. Am recovering well from the surgery.  It is so nice not to have pain all the time.

Moral of the story, is if you feel something is wrong don't give up and keep following up.

I'm on the way to recovery now and baby is doing fine.

Pain left to the belly button is not chracteristic for any bowel disease (it still can be bowel though).

Gallbladder and liver is upper right
Stomach is in the middle, just below the sternum
Oancreas is close to stomach
Colon runs on sides and below the stomach

Pain from both aneurysm or stomach may be affected by food, so it's not easy to say what is it.

If your radial pulse (wrist) and neck pulse are sharp and strong, than all pulses may be from lowered blood pressure, or dehydration.

How to recognise dehydration:

Please use your intuition, and be carefull, ultrasound is a quick and cheap investigation.

Thanks boron.  I am not a thin person.  I am about 15 lbs overweight at the moment, though I have lost 8 lb in the last 2 weeks cause of how I feel.

I don't know whether I am stressing myself for nothing, but I sure don't feel very good.

Aneurism of abdominal aorta is possible. Diagnosis is with ultrasound, and regarding your symptoms, I recommend you have it soon. Pulse may be felt in skinny persons, but you've said it's something new, so you better check it really soon. No panic, but with waiting complications are possible (dissecting aorta).
