Redundant Colon, GERD and CMV - are they connected

I've had constipation for years and have lived with going to the bathroom every 4 to 5 days.  But about 2 months ago, I started feeling bloated and even distended under my bra line. A barium enema last week was normal except for a redundant colon. I go to the Dr. next Monday to discuss and I'm assuming she'll send me to a Gastro doctor.

In all my researching on the Internet, I've noticed that GERD comes up alot in combination with Redundant Colon. I was diagnosed with "Extreme GERD" about a year ago and take Prilosec twice a day. I also was diagnosed with CMV about 15 years ago when I went to give blood. I understand that CMV is pretty common, but I'm seeing it pop up too in the literature/postings on the net.

Here's my question... should I bring all three up to my Doctor or am I reaching for straws in an attempt to find something concrete that will fix my constipation?

The Miralax, Activia, Benefiber and others aren't really working anymore... can't find anything on what I should be eating. Some people say more fiber, others say, heck no... it just makes you more bloated (which is true for me)

any thoughts/confirmations would be appreciated. :-)

As a followup, does anyone know a diet for those diagnosed with Redundant Colon and GERD? Some websites say fruits and vegetables, others say high fiber. I'm just trying to feel better.

Read the book "The Magnesium Miracle" by Carolyn Dean MD., ND.
She suggests magnesium (not Milk of Magnesium), in increasing amounts to bowel tolerance, then cut back until normal bowel movements are achieved.
I have found personal relief from constipation and redundant colon problems by taking magnesium bis-glycinate 800 mg daily, in 4 divided doses.  This seems to be the right amount for me.
