Alright.. I've been having pain in my upper ride side under my ribcage. Its been going on for a long time pretty moderate on and off. But latly its been bugging me alot and actually hurting .. now when it hurts sometimes i feel like a strain go up the right side of my neck or when it is really bad.. i feel really sick like i could throw up, but i never do. Is it just stupid o gas.. or is my liver/gallbladder having a problem.. any suggestions? Plz help.

well turns out with me we still haven't totally figured it out but i've recently found out that i'm allergic or intolerant to some food..and the gallbladder going bad might have caused that.  Like when you eat something your body doesn't want anymore, the body will guard itself and dump either via diaerreah or constipation (basically it's not going to absorb the food) so this is my own theory, not a medical theory is the wrong foods or the allergy caused the gallbladder to not contract normally and was taken out.  And i'm still sick..today..

I still have pains and nausea and such.. umm on the gaining weight..no usually after surgery if you eat something heavy in fats and oils the gallbladder isn't there to squeeze out bile..bile just freely drains so for some people if they eat cheese or ice cream or something fatty they have IBS-D...and run off to the bathroom so in my opinion it actually can cause you or force you to lose weight..but not always.

You're welcome :) yeah I know the feeling, for me it's hard when you go a doctors office and he looks at the records and says "well matthew you're extremely healthy on paper" and i'm thinking, yup so healthy I can't work/date/fly...maybe I'm hypocondriac...but I know i'm not..I know something is wrong.  I never had any health issue before and i'm sure you didn't either.

So it's nice to be on this site and relate to others..there is something wrong, you just gotta figure it out and it takes a good doctor and teamwork to get it done.  There are so many possibilities (I mean your problem could be celiac..ulcer..gallstones..gallbladder..food allergy/intolerances yadayadayada..) who knows but it normally doesn't go away unless you're super lucky so..yeah save up some cash while you can and get to a GI specialist.

ps - it could be a simple ulcer and usually that's diagnosed via breath test or a blood test (normally a blood test..) so i'll cross my fingers for ya..that's way easy to treat compared to gallbladder and since you're young there's a decent chance that it might be an easy fix.  Hang in there!

Yeah it was standard gallbladder removal.  Basically I had 24/7 nausea and stomach pains, and I begged the doctor if I could get an ultrasound/hida scan to see if that was the problem (turned out it wasn't...) but anyway the ultrasound found zilch, but the hida scan showed the gallbladder only working like 12% so they suggested it being removed.

I'm the same way as you..no insurance, so I had to foot the $7000 bill out of pocket and i'm still paying for it.  The real sad part is..it didn't fix the problem.  Recovery time was about ooo..4-5 days for me and surgery only lasts a few hours and they send you home right after amazingly..but I hope that's not your problem.  Hopefully it's something simple.

Not a bad idea about the urgent care..but be prepared that if they don't spot anything on a ct scan/xray and your blood tests are normal, they'll just send you home and tell you to follow up with a GI specialist.  So you could end up with a expensive bill and no help..but who knows it's worth a shot but be prepared for an expensive bill if you're going to the ER room.

Probably would schedule an appointment with a GI specialist or a normal doctor and then start the fun joyride of trying to figure it out. :( sorry..

Yeah sadly it does sound like a gallbladder issue.. could be an ulcer in the region..could be super bad gas/IBS but I doubt it.

Usually your stools (not to get gross on you..) sometimes go yellow or have a weird color to it if you're having gallstone problems.  If they're really really dark almost black that means it's probably an ulcer (bleeding)

There's a few different things but if it's not a food issue (intolerance/allergy) there's a good chance it's a gallbladder attack.  You could go off super fatty things (if you've eaten something really fatty/oily you usually get a super painful attack) so to *test* things you could go out and get a donut or ice cream or something and see if it comes on strong..or if you're really worried about it i'd get into a doctor and at least do a liver/h. plori test...or maybe ultrasound/HIDA would be done..

Anyway in the meantime, a natural rememedy I've *heard* is apple juice (unless this is an ulcer and you'll feel like super **** and in pain after you drink that since it's acidic) but normally you want to totally avoid heavy fatty foods and oils but honestly you probably should go see a doctor pronto.  My pain got so bad on my right side I couldn't sleep on it at all...when I had surgery the surgeon noted that it was good it came out when it did because it was near ruptured so..lesson learned..don't delay..get to a doctor on that one esp. if the pains are really bad.

(you could also go to the store and buy some gas-x and see if that helps..probably won't but it's worth a shot)

Good luck Calley!
