Well, since you had gastric bypass, I'm not sure what all the complications from that can be, that can arise from time to time, but since it happened to you once before, I think I can guess, and maybe my thoughts will help.
First, though, as you know, medications can cause constipation. With that said, constipation can cause all your symptoms. You've got to get "unstuck." I know a few natural ways, as well as how to treat the pain you're experiencing. The pain comes from gas, trapped air, so drink some alka seltzer when you notice that part. To get unstuck, there are several things you can do.
First, a few enemas should help the waste break down and start to come out. In meantime, you can eat Activia yogurt from the grocery store, it breaks down waste "from the other end." Also, drinking water and eating spagetti (high water content) helps, and so does eating Cheerios for the oat fiber and eating 100 percent whole wheat bread with lettuce on the sandwich, for the wheat and plant fiber. Basic daily exercise also keeps the digestive tract in good working order.
If you don't have a bowel movement after some enemas, then if you know the waste is right at the end, ready to come out, put on some clear plastic gloves and put plain KY jelly on there or vaseline, and dig a little out by hand. It sounds awful, but the main thing, like with enemas, is to get enough out so that the bowels start to move again. And in general, you can put the same two ointments on there to make regular passage of waste more comfortable.
Everybody gets constipated from time to time, usually it happens because of what you eat, or medications, or daily habits...like rushing too much when you have your meals, or not getting enough water, or consuming a lot of high fat foods or meats. I don't think this is too serious of a problem, mainly because you've had this before, but I do know that there ain't hardly anything worse than getting so constipated that you can't have a bowel movement and you feel like vomiting because there's no room left and gas pain can double you over. So, hope some of these ideas help a little.
