Scared this may be stomach cancer...

Hello, I am a 20-year-old male who recently began to develop stomach issues towards the beginning of October.  I will try to give you a list of my symptoms:
*stomach pain in upper left portion and going up to my chest
*indigestion:  burping, burning, etc

I visited my doctor after a week of these symptoms and he did an exam.  He poked and prodded around on my stomach, and it was a bit tender.  He said that he had a feeling he knew what it was.  I asked him twice if it was anything serious and he said it wasn't.  He gave me a blood test, and everything came back fine on it.  He also gave me an upper GI endoscopy test, scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday.  He also prescribed me to Ranitidine, which very much helped the symptoms.  My stomach does not experience pain too much anymore, I primarily only experience the indigestion symptoms.  Also, all of these symptoms kind of just popped up all of a sudden, and it was during an extremely stressful time of the semester.  I do not think that I am bloated or anything, for I can eat a normal-sized meal all the time and do not get full early.  I have not experienced nausea or vomiting either.  My bowel movements and everything are normal as well.  I am really scared that this might be stomach cancer.  I know I shouldn't worry as much as I do, but I always worry about stuff like this.  Do you think it could possibly be cancer or an ulcer or what?  I am both relieved and scared about the upcoming endoscopy that I have.  I am relieved that it will finally be over and the month's wait will be done, but I am becoming very scared and worried that I have cancer.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

No, I don't feel it's cancer.  It may just be an ulcer, or irritation of the stomach.  You sound very healthy and have been under a lot of stress, which doesn't help your problem.
Always keep in mind that when you address an issue quickly, you are catching something before it gets serious and this is key in staying healthy.  Sounds like you could have acid reflux also.  Youth is on your side!  Work on not worrying so much, stress is so bad for you.  Sometime read the book "Deadly Emotions" and this will make you understand what is happening to our bodies when we are under contant stress, and worry. Stay vigilant with your health, this is an awesome way to insure a long healthy life.  It's when we ignore symptoms that serious health issus arise.  Take care and don't worry.......
