Severe Cramping followed by Explosive Diarrhea

I am a 47 year old male, 6'1" and 225lbs and enjoy good health other than suffering with the following; for over 25 years now I have had at least 4 days per month where I have experienced severe cramping which goes away only after having 2-3 bouts of explosive diarrhea. I have had a couple of colostomys where one of them a polyp was found and removed however my doctors have not been able to provide an answer as to why I have reoccuring symptoms I have described. I have tracked closely what I eat / drink for weeks and weeks through periods where I experience the cramping and diarrhea however, we haven't been able to zero in on any potential food/beverage to bring on the painful episodes described. Any advice you may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Just noticed today while reading my initial post that it mentions that I have had a couple of "colostomys" previously...ummm that's not right...that should have read a couple of "colonoscopy's". Sorry about that!

If the doctor has run all the appropriate tests for the more serious conditions then it sounds like possibly IBS to me. IBS can come in many different extremes. If you are monitoring your eating habits and not seeing an increase of fiber or any other food that can lead to diarrhea, then I'd say IBS sounds like a possibility.
