Should I be concerned about my biopsy results?

good afternoon.  almost 20 years ago y I was diagnosed with BE and was found to have black sores on my esophogus and about 14 years ago I underwent the Enteryx procedure.  My reflux went away completely and had been feeling well until a few months ago.  I've been experiencing heavy rectal bleeding, sometimes uncontrolled, along with rectal pain. A colonoscopy and a biopsy were ordered by my Dr.  Polyps were removed and sent to the lab.  The results are back but my follow up appt isnt for 2 wks and I am curious about the findings.  It says that one of the fragments has medium glands with ample light and some irregurlarity on the edges.  The lamina propria has mononuclear infiltrated swelling and has an increase in nuclear cellularity.  thank you

Well, I do think that sounds like abnormal findings of a mild nature.  The edges normally are supposed to be smooth, increase in nuclear cellularity is also a key to needing some attention to the situation. However, I am by no means trained to understand biopsy results.  On the plus side . . . they are waiting to see you for two weeks.  Normally when things are of a critical nature, you'd get in right away.  I had a mammo that was very bad and was in to see a breast surgeon 4 days after the mammo.  They expedite serious situations.  So, try not to worry!  Please let me know what the doctor says.
