Sound like hiatal hernia and if so, surgeon recommendation if needed

Hi. 2009 was the first time I felt woozy in my head. Head pressure, eventual nausea. Lasted 7 weeks. Disappeared. 2010 during Hurricane Sandy I felt massive abdominal pain. Felt like a heart attack. Went to ER. Nothing found. They wrote it off as gas and nothing more. Since then I have had gas on and off for some time. 2013, for unrelated reasonsThen later was found on an EKG To have an arrythmia. Got a cardiac ablation. Hasn't stopped the arrythmia but they said it was the non life-threatening type. After surgery, still had lot of gas. It eventually subsided. Meanwhile sometime in between all that, I had an endoscopy and all the gastroenterologist said was "Normal, no signs of GERD Damage. You do have a slight widening in the esophagus but lots of people have that. It's normal and harmless."  Suggested a GERD diet and Zantac.

It's been a few years since then (2013). Now suddenly I woke up with palpitations for a half an hour just two months ago (Nov 2016), go to cardiologist. Wore a holter monitor for two weeks. Had tachycardia ( no kidding, have had it the whole time). But since then have had gas under the sternum/upper chest, and it keeps building up and building up and takes awhile to pass via belching. It took awhile to even try Zantac again or less coffee. Sort of helps but gas not entirely gone. All the while I have head pressure, ears popping.

It wasn't until a friend on FB discussed his arrythmia that he mentioned his hiatal hernia and how it may play a role. I looked it up and it's starting to dawn on me that maybe this gastroenterolgist mis-read the widening in my esophagus? How can a guy who gave me an endoscopy miss that? Could it be hiatal hernia?

I don't have all the horrid symptoms some people have but some days this head pressure is really annoying and makes it hard to concentrate on anything. Why does the pressure get to your head and make your ears pop? Where is it traveling?

Also if worse comes to worse and surgery is needed, I'm terrified because it seems like the cure is worse than the disease. Who is really GOOD at this in NYC or near Washington D.C.? I got a new job in D.C. but live in NYC. I prefer NYC recommendations first because at least I still live here.

Thanks.
