Stomach pain

My 8 year old daughter has stomach pain when she eats, which causes her to eat very little then 1-2 hours after she will have diarrhea. Sometimes she has diarrhea and stomach pain without eating anything. No other symptoms and this has been happening for about 1-1 1/2 weeks

Hello,
A complete medical history, clinical examination and work up are important for correct diagnosis and management. The causes related to nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain are food poisoinng, gastroenteritis, stomach flu, lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome etc.Parasitic infestations like amoebiasis and giardiasis will also cause watery stools, abdominal cramps, nausea, fever etc.She should take a light diet and drink plenty of water. See a Paediatrician.A clinical examination and tests like stool examination will help. Do keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!

Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include GI infections, inflammations, dietary causes, neuromuscular causes, referred pain from other region, functional issues etc. I would suggest keeping it to soft semi-solid food with plenty of fluid intake with added salt and sugar to compensate for fluid lost in diarrhoea. If the symptoms do not seem to resolve in 1-2 weeks, I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care paediatrician or a paediatric gastroenterologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
