Strong burning sensation in my throat

I have a strong burning sensation in my throat for almost 2 months now. When I talk it makes it worse.
1. I went to see 2 ENTs. The first one - month and half ago, the other one - 2 weeks ago. Both did the fancy test, when they inserted the small camera through my nose. The first doctor found some irritation of my vocal cords, the second one  - found nothing. For the last 2 month I try to talk as little as possible.
2. I also went to see gastroenterologist - he did the endoscopy. Found a hiatus hernia, non-erosive GERD. He put me on Prevacid (30mg a day).
3. Went to speech therapist. After each session felt even worse than before. :(

NOTHING WORKS! Please help! The pain is pratically all day, the only relieve I have is when I sleep.

I have every symptom you've mentioned plus...I never quite understood all these overlapping symtoms and how they could possibly be related. I also even get rib and upper back, shoulder, and neck pain too when my reflux is acting up bad. I could never figure out the connection between all these ailments. I even went for back treatments for months. I thought it was a seperate issue but couldn't understand why it would always come at the same time as my other symptoms. After reading all these comments on this forum I realize that all my symtoms are classic of hiatal and relux. On top of the miserable symtoms I experience I'm also a singer so it even affects my work when the rfelux acts up and causes stuffy nose, post nasal drip into my throat and espophogus...a dry cough, choking, constant throat clearing, and constant belching too. I'm going to check out this vagus nerve imbalance/hiatal hernia syndrome.
I've been under the care of a nutritionist/kenesiologist and its helped tremendously!  I followed the advice to make changes in my diet and lifestyle and taking suplements and natural enzymes. I personally feel that the holistic approach is safest and best way to treat these digestive problems.  I've heard so many horror stories about misdiagnosis, the dangers of meds side effects etc, that can cause even worse health issues than the condition they are supposed to be treating. But that's just my opinion and experience. In any case thanks for the info!

did you have the burning mouth, stuffy nose, and a hard time breathing as well? Did it help with that? I really hope it does.

Yes, the ENT saw no problems with vocal cords.

Here is a link that may explain this problem

Good luck!   :)

Have they checked your vocal cords to see if they are working properly or if they are inflamed or anything of that nature?

I have been experiencing the same burning in my throat that you have described.........I have been doing some research on it, because I am unable to go to a dr. until insurance kicks in in dec, and have found  that my symptoms are a lot like larynx reflux/silent reflux..........that's where the acid goes all the way up into the larynx and even the sinus cavities and lungs and also causes breathing issues.....I don't know if this information helps you, but I hope so..........maybe your dr. can help you to find out if you are suffering from that and that is what is causing the throat problems........mine go away when I am sleeping as well, and after I wake up it gets worse as the day goes on..........I have noticed that it is a lot worse if I have any coughing, throat clearing, or burping.........if I can manage not to do any of those, then the burning and soreness goes away; unless I have to talk too much or yell at the children........also, there are sore throat herbal teas that help and Cepacol throat lozengers help........An herbalist that I know said she had a hiatal hernia and her chiropractor showed her how to pull the stomach down and she said she is doing really well now because of that...........so maybe that website mentioned will help as well.........take care and God bless! Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the info. I just did a search on Vagus Nerve Imbalance/ Hiatal Hernia Syndrome and found many links. Hopefully, one of them will give me my answer.

Sincerely,

I was especially interested in the idea of "pulling down the stomach". Kinesiologists can massage the stomach down and possibly teach people how to do this themselves. Especially good for the tons of people who sit all day at computers and suffer from many of the symptoms described.

keywest--i too read that article about vagus nerve imbalance/hiatal hernia syndrome. It may explain many symptoms very logically but it also suggests such lifestyle changes that almost outweigh the symptoms. The idea here is to treat the symptoms and possibly get rid of the condition, not to let it rule your life therefore pretty much ruining it. this is just my opinion of that no more no less. i do wish ya luck with finding a solution

I found an article on Yahoo when I was searching for answers for my digestive problems. One of the symptoms descibed was pain in the throat. Check out "Vagus Nerve Imbalance/ Hiatal Hernia Syndrome". It's a facinating article that seems like such a logical explanation for many symptoms descibed by so many people.
Good luck.
