Thank you for the reply. I think you are exactly correct when you refer to a "physical leak". That is definitely the case and was my thinking, as well. It is as if the body cavity just does not fully close. After a BM, I will immediately proceed to the shower. However within 30 minutes or so, the rectal area is once again soiled and appears as though I have not cleansed the area properly. As I know this not to be true, I am at a loss. Thus the physical leak you mentioned seems most logical. Without health insurance, my options are few at this time. I am concerned as I have had a close relative pass away due to colon cancer.
I noticed you already found the prior post. I mentioned air purifiers in there. If they work for this, you can put one in the car using an invertor (like the ones used with computers) to run off the cigarette lighter while driving. I did this with a 201 size blueair (90watt) and the austin jr (140 watt - 90 would have done here too). The units made for cars specifically are less efficient.
Hi, There was a posting in the last couple months of other people with the same problem. They didn't seem to have a solution yet, but it might be good to check it and see if you can private message to any of them. The only thought I had, as mimimal a thought as it is, was to use a sani nap or similar item (adult diaper) and spray febreeze on it to catch the odor before it leaves the area. It's so distinictive a symptom, there must be an illness that goes with it that's determinable by a doctor - but it might take a while to find one who knows about it. Could it be parasites? Would one of those alternative treatments of colonics help? I don't normally think there a good idea because of the risk of perforation and removal of heathy stomach flora, but in this case the minimual risk might be worth it. Along the same lines, have you tried massive amounts of probiotics or smokey mountain (or great smokey) labs does parasite and flora testing that goes beyond regular medicine... I'm focusing on the digestion not completing, but when I think about it, more likely, there's a physical "leak" happening where something that's supposed to close inside and keep the odor in until BM, isn't holding tight. A good doctor seems the best for that. Maybe contact some teaching hospitals, or maybe the NIH website? I hope you can find a solution soon. This has to be tough to deal with.
