Hi there can I suggest you look up SOD dysfunction.
I have the same exact issue! I had my gal bladder removed in 2009 and shortly after developed microscopic colitis and gastritis. After all these years, the docs have still be able to put me on something that helps with the trapped gas. I get such bad attacks that it feels like a heart attack and I cant breath. Sometimes my husband has to physically support me because they make me so weak. What I have independently found helpful so far. Hot natural peppermint tea. It helps me to burp and the hot water is soothing. I drink it daily or nightly. The moment I feel an upper gas attack coming on, I rush to get me a steaming cup of peppermint tea. I also try to move my body around. It can be painful and uncomfortable when an attack is coming on, but movement does help the gas to move around and hopefully become untrapped. This morning 6/13/14 I woke up out of a dead sleep in pain from the trapped gas. I have not been able to sleep. I drank several glasses of hot peppermint tea and it helped slightly, but not enough for my comfort. I had fennel seeds in the cabinet and have dione a little digging on those. It apparently helps with digestion and helps relieve trapped gas. I have been sipping on a cup of hot water with a 1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds and feel slightly better. Enough to be comfortable. I would love to know what your husbands GI says since I haven't found one GI able to help me. I just turned 30 and am tired of no solutions for this. I hope what I suggested will help your husband find some relief!
Thank you for your reply. The GI specialist is who he has been seeing. He has scheduled appointment with same GI on Monday. We are planning to suggest other tests. Thank you for your suggestions. We will mention those areas also.
Your husband needs to see a GI specialist, this could be his gallbladder or pancreas.
