Waking up nauseated in the middle of the night — vertigo?

I did not know whether to ask this in the Gastroenterology community or the Ears, Nose, and Throat one. In short, for the last three or four days, I've woken up with an intense nausea that is only remedied by changing my position.

I noticed that this coincided with the frequent and recent use of headphones. Despite listening to things at a low volume, headphones will give me terrible ear pain. My left ear has been hurting on and off since my headphone usage.

This hasn't become disruptive yet, but I ask because I wonder if it is issue with my inner ear. Do you think the ear-pain and nauses are related? Am I stupid? I already experience mild head-spinning when I lay down in the dark (though it's not every night). The nausea goes away on its own, but tonight it was so strong I thought for sure I was going to vomit. I felt disgustingly hot and rattled. Do any stomach experts here have better theories?

Hello and welcome to the forum. This is an interesting question, thank you for asking it.  We always recommend you check in with your doctor.  Inner ear issues certainly can cause vertigo and nausea. Are you dizzy as well? Are these noise cancelling headphones?  These have been linked to vertigo and nausea. Do you have any other symptoms?  There are other things that can cause this from infection, to virus to Eustachian tube dysfunction. But that it is happing with the recent usage of the headphones, that does seem like it may be the culprit.
