Weird throat noises/persistant cough

I am not sure this is a reflux problem, but someone suggested it may be.  I am 42 and for the last 2 years have had a very persistant cough when I lay down, accompanied by weird throat noises that I cannot control.  If I am walking around the throat noises do not happen, but I do cough a good amount.  The coughing began 1st and I went to the Dr. who told me I had allergies and post-nasal drip, and perscribed a nasal spray.  This did nothing to help.
When I lay on either side, I feel like there is fluid in my chest and I have to continually cough.  It is very annoying.  The throat noises also happen when I am laying on either side.  They are totally uncontrollable and sound like gurgles or burps, "frog" noises!   It is embarrassing and annoying!   If I lay perfectly on my back I do not cough or have the throat noises.   I never have heartburn, and antacids do not help at all.
Anyone have any ideas?   Thanks!

That is a tough one!  But I would see an ear, nose and throat specialist.  It does sound as if you have post nasal drip, but a little exreme for that.  Even if it is post nasal drip w/allergies, see an ENT specialist as I'm sure they can do more to help you.  If not, see an Allergist.
