What can cause consistent nausea?

Hello All,

I'm here to see if anyone has had a similar experience.  I am under the care of a doctor but am at a loss.  I'm a 30 year old woman...A little overweight but I run and have been losing weight.  I've always been a relatively healthy individual.

Earlier this year I had an injury and was in between insurance so I took a long cycle of Aspirin and Ibuprofen for the pain.  About that time I noticed I got some icky nausea when I would eat.  Soon come Feb I was getting the nausea more frequently.  Then in late March it was unbearable and it's been day by day since.  I've been on a cycle of carafate, zofran, reglan, and prilosec.  I've had 3 days where (if following a good diet of no processed foods etc) I feel pretty decent.  The nausea is kind of on a back burner.  Kinda there but not so bad.  Then I'll go 3-4 days in a row where it's constant nausea...I can't sleep...I can't process my thoughts at work because it's always there.  I've had a baby (10 years ago).  I've had nausea associated with pregnancy or the stomach flu.  I've had horrible heartburn.   This is a different kind of nausea.  Sometimes I get temporary relief through a burp but it comes right back.  I'm constantly swallowing to try and keep myself from getting sick.  It's awful.  It is worse when I eat but it occurs even on an empty stomach.  There's no pain associated with it most of the time.  That's what has had my doctor and I thrown for a loop.  At first we surely thought the aspirin cycles had done it and it would get better...  She said due to the lack of pain the next step is an MRI of the brain with contrast to make sure nothing is effecting that part of the brain.  That scares me and I'll be relieved if it's ruled out.  I'll feel much more relieved if it's just a GI fix we haven't caught onto yet.  If anyone has experienced this please let me know.  It's really hard and I know no one else who has been through this and what your thoughts are.

Thank You

Thank you :) We're thinking the same thing...The lining is destroyed.  Since my labwork was perfect my doctor has discounted a full blown ulcer being the issue.  But, the lining of my stomach could indeed be destroyed so I'm sticking to a perfect diet and giving it more time.  Thank you!

Sounds to me like all that apsrin/ibuprofen probably screwed up your stomach lining (it does that). You should really stick to tylenol. With that said, if you feel better when you don't eat processed foods, why not just refrain from them all together?
Your stomach lining needs to heal, and for that to happen you need to remove any and all irritants. i.e. processed foods, gluten, dairy, asprin, ibuprofen, coffee, tea, etc.
What you want to do is eat a bland diet. Stick to things like chicken and fish and steam them (add some salt for flavor) and steamed veggies like carrots, broc, spinach, potatoes.
I would also suggest seeing a GI specialist because they should really do an endoscopy to make sure you don't have an ulcer.
