Whats wrong with my stomach?

Im 17 and i have frequent stomach problems. I always have cramps 24/7, even if im not on my period. My doctor had given me some naprelan 375mg (naproxen sodium) samples. he told me to take 2 daily when my period starts and that only helps my cramps but does not help my diarrhea, and its very embarrassing. My mother suffers from IBS. So im pretty sure i have it too. she has the same problems as me. i especially get this way when im about to start my period and it lasts for more than a week. after my period im ok again, but i also have diarrhea randomly through out the month, and its very painful as well as my cramps. I recently have had an ongoing small pain in my right lower abdomen. When i was born i was diagnosed with hirschsprung's disease but i had surgery and it was fixed. until about 1 year ago, i hadn't had any problems. my doctor prescribed me an IBS medicine Dicyclomine 10mg. im taking those about twice a day. and they only help just a little bit, but leave me with gas and bloating. i have also noticed that if i push out of my stomach it often makes weird sounds, i believe its because of gas and bloating because of my medicine, and its noticeably loud. im tired of having my stomach control me in anything i do. im quite active and its still like this. ive tried going to camps and spending the night where all i do is embarrass myself because of my stomach. i would really like to know whats going on.

Hi there
I am not 17 but 34.Have you heard of something called endometriosis.I had severe cramping when I had my period. My IBS symptoms were worse when I had my period.I would miss 2 weeks of school every month cause of the pain and I would need a bathroom 24/7.I have been dealing with this since then.Had many surgeries to try and correct it even a hysterectomy.anyway since Nov my symptoms have come back full force. All the GI tests were done in the world but nothing was found. The GI dr thinks that my endo has taken over my colon, gall bladder and my whole abdomen.I was labelled with IBS and spastic colon cause there was no other findings. My upper GI was totally clean.I then looked up intestinal endometriosis and wow.People that have this are told they have IBS and spastic colon. I have been dealing with diarrhea for 4 months now.Nothing has helped me.I have tried everything the dr and natural drs have to offer.I am now seeking out an endometriosis specialist.I am really hoping that my story could shed some light for you.please PM me if you want to talk.

That is strange. It could be the type of fiber you took there are many kinds. Look into more natural forms go to a health store. I would also suggest a vegeterian diet and eliminiating possible food allergies see a doc about food allergies.  This is what my friend takes for her IBS works for her... along with a vegeterian diet, fennel, and digestive enzymes. good luck! hope you do get better its never easy. http://www.helpforibs.com/shop/deals/dietkit2.asp

It sounds like IBS, get an xray to verify and a second opinion. Eat a lot of fiber and take fiber supplements along with fennel and digestive enzyme supplements. You should be able to find the fiber, fennel, and digestive enzymes at a health store. This should start to help you. Watch your diet no more sugars, refined foods like white bread eat wheat and whole grain, and no sodas or greasy fried foods. Good luck!
